Daniel Shipman was born in Indiana and moved to Texas as fast as he could at the age of 7. He went to Big Sandy High School where he met and later married his high school sweetheart Shamel. He was a good student and an active athlete who loved the competition that sports offered.
After graduating from Big Sandy he attended Kilgore College where he earned an Associate Degree in Mid Management and graduated with honors.
Later he attended the University of Texas at Tyler where he graduated with B.A.A.S. with emphasis in Political Science and specialization in Industrial Technology. A few years later he returned and obtained his Texas teaching certification in Political Science.
At the age of 19 he began working for a local agriculture supply company located in Gladewater, Texas called Vital Earth Resources. He began as an equipment operator then moved to production supervisor then later sales manager. As sales manager he gained skills in purchasing, web design, advertising, product design, pricing and many other facets of small business. He worked here for 15 years.
The past 20 years Daniel has been a Texas teacher and coach. Fourteen of those years he has been fortunate enough to work at Big Sandy, his alma mater. His duties have been offensive coordinator for football, head basketball, head golf and high jump coach. His students have voted him Teacher of the Year and he also has had athletes compete in the state football championship, regional basketball championship, and state track meet.
At the age of 21, Daniel married Shamel Eaton. She has been his wife for more than 30 years and has been his best friend since day one. They have three wonderful kids Sabrah, Jacob, and Joshua.
He also enjoys golf, fishing, and hunting or playing with his dogs Jack and Diane.
